While attending the International Society of Photographers Convention in Washington, D.C., a Somers resident Sarah Moynihan, decided to enter their photo contest. There were over 1000 photographers from all over the world in attendance and with only an hour of time to take a picture and submit it, many experienced photographers would find this quite a challenge. When the results was revealed, Sarah found herself with the $5000 Grand Prize and named Amateur Photographer of the Year Award for all of North America!

Also while attending the convention, Sarah Moynihan was presented with an award for her photo of a Somers Firefighter with a sunlit background which will also be published in the International Society of Photographers next book and is an entry for the Amateur Photography Photo of the Year contest.
