Hartford Fire Department June 3, 2007

About three years ago, Chief Teale thought it would be a great idea to recreate a photo he had found from 1885 of the City of Hartford Fire Department in front of the State Capitol with all the firefighters and apparatus. Through an enormous amount of effort and coordination by many people, spearheaded by Supervisor Sal Pagliarello, 325 firefighters and the apparatus from 2007 gathered on the front lawn of the Capitol for the photo shoot. In less than one hour, people had arrived, stood at attention, photos were taken, and they were back at work again. We even had placed the Capitol Police Chief in the top floor window to recreate the man sitting in the window from 120 years ago.
I want to thank Supervisor Pagliarello for asking me to be a part of this special event. Since I am a volunteer Fire Photographer/EMT for the Somers Fire Dept., it was an honor to volunteer my time for the HFD for this special day and to be a part of History! Taking pictures of firefighters and EMS is my way of thanking them for their hard work and showing the world what an every day hero looks like. It was even more of an honor to have my photo selected since there were many to choose from with other photographers present. To show my appreciation, I am donating a portion of the proceeds from the sale of any prints to the organizations listed below.
This photo has been framed and hung at the Pearl St. Headquarters building, the Capitol, and will also be hung in th Legislative Office Building. Photos of the presentations will be on the website in the near future - so keep checking back!
